About Griffin

Griffin was born on September 10, 2008 and from Day 1, we knew he was going to be a special little dude. Griffin was born with Bilateral Microtia and Atresia which is basically a deformity of the ears in which the external lobes are pinned together and there is no presence of an external ear canal.

If you are curious as to what Griffin could actually hear prior to surgeries, simply put your fingers in both ear canals. He could hear like everyone else, but with the absence of the ear canal, the sound becomes muffled.  In order to hear, Griffin wore a BAHA  (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) headband and recently had his LEFT EAR CANAL & RIGHT EAR CANAL surgeries. We also found out during Griffin’s right ear canal construction that he was missing a tiny part of his stapes and there is a 3mm gap between bones which will require an implant in order for him to hear out of his right ear canal. Dr. Roberson is confident that Griffin will be able to hear normally following that procedure and we have tentatively scheduled for it November 2012.

Griffin is a very curious, active, smart, and TOUGH LITTLE DUDE! He loves playing with his baby sister Jillian and terrorizing his puggle Maximus! He will eat an entire watermelon if you let him and LOVES TO GOLF!
